Mt St Leonards

Wedding

As a Marriage Celebrant I get to marry people and its easy. I only have to show up, say a few words, and "Bob's your Uncle", job done (almost). The love in their eyes is priceless, and a joy to behold. Weather could be an issue this week. Its an outside wedding and the forecast is a bit 50 / 50. Be nice if we can stage it outside. Out in the elements.

Airplane playlist

Here is a playlist I put together of various Airplanes I've traveled in or watched. I've heaps more but haven't uploaded yet. I love flying and quite a number of my family have made a good living flying these heavy jets.

My Morning Walk

I consider myself very lucky to live on the doorstep of the Yarra Ranges National Park, and with little effort can be in these beautiful wilderness palces within minutes from home. Whats not captured in the picture is the acrid smell from the controlled burn off taking place somewhere not too far from here. I quite like the smell, and it lends real atmosphere to the walk. Also with this photo, technically I'd been struggling with white balance. Moments before I'd been going through the camera menus and had noticed I'd pre set the white balance, unknown to me, and had been reaping the results. So I was able to reset the white balance to Auto, and the results were immediately apparent. Hope you like the photo. The atmosphere in the forest was very peaceful.

Bearded Dragon

Today I showed up for an appointment, and was introduced to Carny, The Bearded Dragon. He wasted no time walking all over my folder, and I had to be careful not to startle him. He sometimes falls off the table so I was careful to make sure he didnt drop. It was a lovely distraction from the normal meeting I was expecting to attend. Bearded Dragon.

Stationary Engines

On March 25th, the Upper Yarra Museum held its annual Crank Up 2012 which included an outstanding display of working stationary engines. Below is a video clip I made, but theres many more.  The atmosphere was wonderful, and the air was rich with smoke fumes, slow pulsating engines and the occasional steam whistle.

Scenic Warburton

Today part of my Volunteer role was to pick up a person & take them to the Doctor's. Unbeknownst to me they had been admitted to Hospital the night before. So I had some time on my hands and the video camera on hand. I decided to walk around the delightful town of Warburton. This is one of about 20 videos I took. Its so picturesque here. Scenic.

Break dancing Brolgas

The local zoo brought up another surprise, this lovely pair of Brolga. Theyre native to Australia, and the symbol of Queensland. Didn't think much about them: thought Id take a quick video and move on. Anyhow, they had different ideas, and started a "Happy Dance", probably knowing that a spot on YouTube was on offer. Only kidding. Anyway, what a delightful couple they are. I went back about 10 minutes later, and I got from them that "Again?" look. OK, OK I'm out of here. Thanks for the show. Brolga Breakdance

Who Likes Monitors?

So the other day I head off to the local zoo. There was a sign indicating the "Monitor" enclosure. Took a look around, no sign of him. Went on tippie-toes a few times to see past the overhang: nope no sign. Oh well, may as well move onto the next exhibit. Unfocused my eyes for a moment and OMG, there it was, right in front of me. Its amazing how well they blend in. This guy is 2 meteres long. It was sprawled on the log you see catching some rays. Fantastic looking beast. Like looking back millions of years. Hope you enjoy it.

Formula 1

Back in 1984 I was living and working in the UK, and took myself to the British Grand Prix. An eye opening experience for a green Kiwi in the Mother Country. Nicki Lauda has always been a hero of mine, but Ayrton Senna's performance on the day made an instant fan out of me. I took these photos with my OM 1. It was an excellent camera, but I do enjoy the digital age with its instant results. Enjoy the video.

Koala

Today I had fun and took myself to Healesville Sanctuary. I went early to avoid the crowds. First enclosure I got to was the Koala's. Not much action: one adult sleeping, but this cute little guy was on the go. Watch video here: Koala The Handler was saying that she has raised the Koala since it was just born. Its Mother died tragically. Hope you enjoy the video.

Boeing 777 Flyover

Yesterday whilst filming the various flyovers that presented, this Boeing 777 came over.
Click here to watch. Boeing 777 Flyover.
Impressive by its size and noise. Managed the crosswind nicely, and even gave us a quick contrail.
Hope you enjoy it.

Boeing's 747

I went into the Northern Viewing area just outside Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport today. I've been wanting to film the inbound traffic for some time now. Now that I have HD Video, it was definitely time. This 747 Boeing happened along almost immediately. Unfortunately the grey sky didn't offer much contrast. Still it was good practice. They cross the viewing area at about 150 feet, so Its an impressive display. Feels a lot closer.
I have more videos to put up on YouTube, and will do so over the next few days. My channel is here. HealesvilleVic3777 I have a playlist of my Airplane Movies
